Message-ID: <99937CC4-96D7-4530-A1F7-895A76FB54BA@cct.lsu.edu>
We are happy to announce the availability of Cactus 4.0 beta 16, the
next stable version of Cactus . This
release contains many features and improvements that were designed,
implemented, or contributed over the past four years, and it supports
several new system architectures. We have also updated the
documentation and made it more complete.
We provide templates for configuration files for a set of
architectures and systems (currently available at ). We are running nightly build tests on several architectures and
machines, with results publicly available at .
The new features include a new interface for reduction operators, a
new mechanism for ensuring that initial data are set up correctly, and
a new configuration mechanism for interfacing to external libraries.
Among the new architectures are Blue Gene/P, Cray XT-4, Loongson 2F,
and SiCortex. This has been available in the development version of
Cactus for some time. Detailed release notes can be found at .

XiRel , Alpaca , and CyberTools grants, and from NASA
via the ParCa grant. The development of the the Cactus portals and
the HTTPS web server was funded by the German Bundesministerium f?r
Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) through the
AstroGrid-D project . The work on Cactus was
also supported by various LONI and TeraGrid resource allocations.
